That's really looking great Rick. I have been away from here for a little while and missed the last few post and pics. Just gorgeous man. I am using your for reference. I dig the fold-down table. Does it rattle much? I was contemplating putting it into mine again.

Maiden Voyage of the "La Reve"

Got the San Juan back in the water today. Got her all patched and polished. Took a while to get her started. Learned to prime the gas/water filter when installing . Took awhile for the fuel pump to fill the canister then get to the motor.
Got 90% of her done and ready for some spring cruising. Ran around Lake Whatcom today and ran all the old gas out, that cheap old $2.99 a Gal. stuff from last year ! This years gas at $3.75 should be alot better Only thing left to do is install a fresh water cooling system that I got off Craigs list for a Chop saw in trade . Brand new never been installed. This will be real nice for Salt water adventures coming this summer. Now I can spend some time and get back to the Falls Flyer restoration?

            Maiden Voyage

            Rick -

Really a gorgeous Dorsett, Rick....and nice that you can run it on Lake Whatcom, not affected by the ban on two-strokes.

                Thanks Tim

We are looking forward to it ! Probably won't make it to the Snohomish run after all ( Sorry Lowell ) Have a few adjustments to make on the motor (Oil change & Tune up ) and won't have time till Sat. to do it. She's coming around real nice. We were able to save the original cushions in the cabin so that saved me a bundle of $$$$ Upholstery was in great shape but the fabric underneath was shot. Got that replaced and they look brand new. Definitely 60s look but at least we can say they are Raymond Loewy's choice and not ours ?? I'll post some pictures when I get the last one back.

                  Rick,

I love that table/bulkhead thing you have going on. That's a great way to open up the living space during the day and still be able to button it up at night. Was that original or just a truely brilliant idea?

Wish it was my Idea !

That is a Raymond Loewy design item. Loewy did the design on the 1962 Dorsett he also did the Studebaker Avanti - Lucky Strike Logo - Shell Oil Logo and lots of other designs.

Rick, sharp looking package. I like the contrasting colors of the boat and trailer. Nice work, as always.

                        Thanks Steve

Have to give the credit for the trailer color and Trailer to Tim Jensen from Porcupine bay, He completly restored the trailer and did the paint. That's one of those 6 degrees of separation - Trailer was from Marty to Chuck Carey to Tim now me ?!!

                        Great job Tim - Thanks

Rick, The trailer ( with my Farallon on it ) came up from Slema, California and was stored at Jim Just home in Southwest Washington for a year and a half after Lon purchased it from some people in Selma. He never took it home. Then Marty purchased it from Lon and it went up by Port Townsend. After a while that's when i purchased it with the Farallon from Marty . Then again a long came Lon ( when i put the trailer on the board as i got a new trailer ) and he took it home to Eastern Washington A short while later Tim got it from Lon then it came your way from Tim. WOW ! What a ride. Chuck

Sorry you can't make this one Rick, it's always a good cruise. Any chance you can make the Lake Union / Ship Canal cruise on April 16th? That's always a nice cruise too.

                              That could work

That may work for us ! Just about the time we should get a good batch of weather. Where do you launch ?

I usually launch at Magnuson Park, it's a pretty nice launch with loads of parking and several ramps. It is a bit shallower than most launches but I've never had a problem launching or retrieving the Sabrecraft there. It's a short run from there around Webster Point and into Union Bay.

It's a good place to launch when you're taking guests on the tour, they get to see Lake Washington and the floating bridge before starting into the cut, you get to show them "everything" without spending a lot of time getting there.
