    Hey all.

Been kind of quite so I thought I would throw out my project.
well, really, I have several going on right now.
I have my 20ft Offshore Skagit that I am tinkering on, She is a runner now.
Then I have been working on Mark Maguire's 17 Skagit.
It started out with just a complete wiring job, but...........Well, it got into a little more which you will see soon.

    Then, my Uniflte.
Just got the paint scraped off and still doing work on it.. The paint even sanding would come off an little flakes or chunks like it was dry when it hit the boat, or, just flat Bad Paint.
I said, NO MORE WINDOWS, but I am putting aluminum frames back in as I don't like the looks of them without. (one of those personal opinions is all)

Wow, Helmar! I've never seen paint come off like that! What is that stuff? Latex house paint? Very nice shop, I might add - where's the jealous smilie??

Wish I could see how you bend that aluminum channel - I assume it's all new stuff? Looks fantastic with the tinted windows!

I am not sure what the paint was but I got a feeling it may have went on in the Sun. That would explain why it acts like it was dry once it hit.

Just finished pulling the hardware off the cabin top and started sanding that as well tonight.

The window frames are just restored. Lots of hours cleaning channels, removing broken screw and re-taping. Its something I won't do any longer but will sure show folks how its done
Fact is, I won't even do this for Ole any longer.
The last boat I did the windows in is Bruce Drakes 21 foot Bell Boy.
It would not look good with anything else.:TwoCents1:

It almost looks like they tried to paint over wax. Looking real good so far, even if you just kept it white. As far as the windows go, do you just cut them flat and bend into place or do you have to heat bend?

            Thanks guys.

I plan on bring it back to its original colors. Off white hull with a Brown up on the cabin sides...

I never seen a white and brown boat that I can remember so it should be different for sure.

            We shall see

Joe, I like those tinted windows. The color should look great as well ! I know what you mean about aluminum frames like on the Farallon and Skagit Offshore. Best Chuck

Nice! That is going to be a cool boat when it is finished.

I'm curious as well about the windows. Heat bend or just gently put them into place? I suppose it depends on the thickness of the plexi.

Not sure of the correct spelling but its lexan and you can bend the 1/16 stuff into about a 8", or less, radius without having to torture it into place.
The side windows are Plexiglas but they are flat.

Marty at Island Boat Shop has the oven we built. You slide the plex into the oven, wait X amount of minutes and then pull it out and lay it over the pattern or old window.
The oven and pads might be for sale.?

                              Hi Melanie.
Its one of those 20 foot paint jobs. Looks good at 20 feet and farther.
Its rolled and tipped and will give it 4 coats. I hope to block sand it and buff it.
                              Thanks Melanie
