      afther seeing your boat and the work

      I finely had to post my first thread I have been a web bowers long enough, And I want to say I know exactly were you have been with that Dorsett. I just have to show you mine.

          Wow. Seeing where she was and where she is sure is inspiring! I'm at the, lets start adding bulkheads back into the boat stage on the Bell Boy. Seems like a long way off from where you are, but sure looks worth it!

              Did you remove the upper half from the lower half when you replaced the transom, if not how did you go about replacing the transom on this boat.

              my transom is shot in what might be a 1962 dorsett catalina and to me it looks like the removal of the upper half from the lower half is the best way to access the transom to replace it

                Thats what I did on my 404. Off with the rub rail, out with the bulkheads, split her in half and shoved the deck forward about 4 feet. Plenty of working room then. Getting it all back together was a challenge!

                  Matt, how long is your boat and what model? I am looking at one that looks like yours with a tandem trailer for $500.

                    I talked to the owner, he said it was 17' and a catalina.

                      When I did the transom I cut out about a foot of the splash well I cut it out in the flat area to make patching back together a bit easier
