1959 Seafair gut and rebuild

Wow Dave, those cabinets' fit in there very nicely. I like it. Cant' wait to see them finished out.

Made trim for seat cabinets today and trimed them out. Made one more sliding drawer for a sink type bowl. All that remains is to template the bottom outside of each to fit over the deck rise then start the finishing cycle. Just about complete with the wood working, have the side trays to make and the front side trays to trim out. We will then take everything out and apart to start the paint process.

Latest pics with finish on everything and the back seat completed also the side trays in the cockpit and cabin completed. About all that remains is to construct foot rests for the seats. Now we will start taking all the glass out and strip it down the same way I do when I paint my cars.

Where did you find that sink? I need a little one for my 404 and haven't found anything small enough yet.

The sink is just a inexpensive stainless pan, instead of running a drain to the bay you just lift it out and dump it.

We are try to keep things simple we plan to just anchor the boat out front of the house in the summer. We sold our last big boat and the shed last September and just have boat to put around in. We have always been fleet owners (more than one boat) we still have an 18' runabout to sell this spring that still leaves us with 3 row boats and two kyaks on the bulk head though.

If any of the vintage group are out on Dyes Inlet, look for the Seafair on the bouy on Erlands Point and stop by, always like looking at boats.

Ah. I need something with a drain. I plan on running mine to bilge.

We will probably make it out to Dyes this summer. For whatever reason, we keep a steady course when we get to the split and end up either on Blake or at Fritz...

There is a recycle marine store in Bellingham that had alot of different sizes of sinks down stairs. Most of them were new in boxes. We stop their every time we are in Bellingham you never know what you will find there. We picked up two small deep sinks their last year when we gutted and completely rebuilt a 1965 Airstream 24' Tradewind, this was our last years project.
We also tow the Airstream with the 65 Burb.

Pacific Marine Exchange is one of my favorite marine stores in the whole Northwest! They have more procuct moving through there than Second Wave (at least it seems that way to me) and they are really good about negotiating pricing on the stuff they actually own (a lot of the stuff is consignment so the prices are set by a private seller). I picked up a lightly used, rare, 12"X14-P Nibral prop last summer for less than a quarter of what the prop shop wanted for the same thing!!!

That pic of the burb and Airstream is last October at the Arches in Moab Utah. We spent 5 weeks down in the 4 corners area taking in all of the National parks. Had temps of 80 to low of 16 degrees at the North rim Grand Canyon.

Oh yes, I know Pacific Marine Exchange. And I even know the sinks you are talking about. I saw them last weekend when I was up there. I think they are too big though. I wasn't headed there with the sink in mind so I didn't measure. I did come away with two new gas fills, and a set of chocks though.

besides the marine exchange we also hit all of the antique stores for treasures.

She is in the water, was going to paint her first but to many other projects in the way. Still took a while getting everything in place installing new rubber beading and new window rubber and to rewire everything.
The first time out was yesterday and ran 6 gal of fuel through. Cruises real well at 22 mph and tops out right at 33 mph. We cruised all over Puget Sound and canada in our 32' Bayliner a 15 knts so to cruise now at 22 is flying.
We have some lights to install in the cabin and will mark the water line for bottom paint. We keep the Seafair tied to the bouy out front of the house.
