  • Switch Plates

    Hi, All.

I'm looking for some switch backing plates like the ones in the photo. I have these three, but need two more, one for Spot or Flood, and one for Horn. I think I've seen these around, but can't find a seller on Ebay that has these specific ones at this time. Any one have some of these laying around?

    Thanks!

I saw some on Craigslist not too long ago. I just looked and don't see them anymore but I'll keep an eye out. There is a guy in Bellingham that has a bunch of power boats he's parting out, but I can't find his ad either. Maybe when he renews the ad...I'll keep an eye out for that one too.

Excellent. Thanks, Kelly. I'll look there as well. I found a source online on a Chris Craft parts page, but he want $20 a piece for them! Seems a bit steep for a fancy washer.... The ones I have came off of an old helm that I got the steering wheel from. I got the wheel, the helm and all the bits for $40...

You will find some of these people that think there stuff is pure gold still just because of a name.
After they hit Ebay a few times and don't sell there stuff they either learn or not.
If not and they pass on, the stuff gets put back on ebay it seems and then you can get things at a fair price.
Seems that if you add the word Marine to something, its about as stupid as adding Harley Davidson to the name of something. Just jacks up the price.

Two things I seen that well, kind of chaps my ass and that is the West Marine and Port Supply are the same company. The ONLY difference between the Port Supply and West Marine catalog is that Port Supply is about about 30% less.
Anytime I did work on customers boats, I passed along the savings if I had to use West Marine.
Also you can use Fisheries supply and get some good pricing.

The reason Port Supply is cheaper is that it's the wholesale division of West Marine that was set up for customers like small scale shipyards and boat dealerships etc . Many times i use to see the Mercury dealership in Everett at West Marine buying a item on their Port Supply account as i stood in line. I'am sure the dealership will be adding a mark up to their customer. That why they are still in business.

Fisheries Supply does the same thing . If you go to their store you will see that the upper level is for public sales and the lower part of the bldg is their wholesale division with their trucks sitting there.

Harbor Marine does the same thing.

Look what happen to Boaters World...no more

Now here's a case yesterday i was looking for a certain kind of a chrome handle and found it in West Marine catalog it was $39.99 PER handle! I did call West Marine and ask them if the price was for one handle or two....told it was for one only so i thank them and hung the phone up. That same handle on e-bay was $30.00 for TWO handles.Guess where i 'am going to be ordering it from.A lot of time a e-bay seller does not have any overhead like a brick & mortar store does.

Dang. Not sure how I missed this ebay auction. I have most if what were up for sale, but the Deck Light alone...

I bought the ones from the Chris Craft guy. Stung, but at least I have them.
