  • Here is a what NOT to do

This might not be a problem for some folks but this causes Major work when its to be fixed right.

I am sorry, but in todays market, that is a, Tops, $400 dollar package, Tops. Me, I would not pay more than $200
Hope the link works.....Found it on Ebay..

I started looking at the pictures and noticed the cuts on the rear bulkhead..
After looking at all the pictures then I seen it. Big mistake.
No way in hell can you get the bottom of that cut for glassing. Means its always going to be a weak spot.

Two ways to do this when you have those big bucket slashwells.
One is to split the whole boat if your going to do a full restoration and the second way is to make your cuts were you can SEE the bottom and do some glassing. Both surfaces need to be sanded or ground for at least 70% adhesion. With the rear tub up side down, you can class tape a lip onto the rear so when it sets back in place, its easy to line back up.

Of course, this is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Hey that's a nice looking boat all the nik-naks are there. I bet theres 3k in fiberglass there. I looked at a newer local built boat about the same size they wanted 16k for it. It wasn't a better boat just more popular.

Me, I split the deck and did it the hard way. Glad for it in the end but it sure was a lot of work!

Here is yet another transom repair that I myself would not trust.

        http://www.ebay.com/itm/201390135226

Once you start cutting away at the corners of the molding, I get twitchy.
I am not sure how the fellow could have gotten to the Front of this transom build and glassed the corners.
For one, you can't see up in there to even run epoxy or glass tape.
I would never try this and for one, did he grind the old glass to even attach too?.
I can see were they could have glassed the splashwell bucket to it but the edges of the transom back to the hull, like I said, you Can Not See that to do anything with it..
Are the stringers glassed to the transom?....

Sorry, anytime I do anything like cutting away at something, I want glass tape on both sides feathered in so its just as strong as she was from the factory mold.

Of course, this is just my opinion, I could be wrong.
