That is looking real good Mike.
I tend to build the transoms out a little thicker for the new 4 stokes but with the cossa product, you can't go wrong.
I think most of John Nelsons transom and the rear of his boat is all cossa board.
If this is the same stuff he is used, it will last forever.Helmar Joe Johanesen

My biggest gripe is the early boats had to run twins to get the speed up and I hate how big the splashwell bucket is.
There is just no easy way to shorten that sucker up without doing major glass work.
I might do that to my Dorsett Catalina as it too has a Very large bucket in the rear to take a large amount of water over the stearn.
Looks as you have a good grip on things as no Adding weight to the back but adding structure. Way to go.!Helmar Joe Johanesen

I have seen them come out both easy and hard.
I had several that you could have taken the transom out with a spoon.
Then I have had them were just one corner was rotten but the rest was fine. You can't patch something like that so it too Many Many saw cuts with the proper depth and lots of hammer and chiseling to get them out.Helmar Joe Johanesen

You could totally carve a little off the bottom and have a sweet "vintage" map of the USA! That is a nice chunk... A little odd the rot pattern around the edge seems quite uneven...Brian Flaherty

Im glad to see someone using modern materials. 1.25 seems thin till you realize a lot of the boats had a piece of galvanized steel pipe between the transom and center stringer. I used 5# foam for stringers bulkhead, floor and reinforcing the hull at impact areas. It wont take the clamping force of a motor. I see they make coosa board in 1/4" do you think it would flex enough to layer in an arched transom?
