Doing some of this restoration, there are things you just don't have but Need.
There were two nice little aluminum cast pieces that hold the Rub Rail on the boat that attaches to the stearn. Those were missing.
The cost of Casting these would not be doable when you only need two.
When it comes to the Bell Boy Scripts, now you have something that might be worth all the costs and time to create.
So, here I am stuck, not having what it takes to do this job, you need to be creative or what I think is called Innovative Fabrication
What I had to do is I found some Schedule 40 aluminum pipe. Where I am located down here just west of Eugene, there are Lots of Aluminum drift and river boats builders. I just found one that liked what I was doing and started working with them on doing the welding I needed.
So, first picture is what I was missing.
Next few pictures are the process that I did to make these up.
Then lots of hack saw work, filing, sanding and then polishing. The final step will be the sealer, which I use the automotive Alloy Mag Wheel sealer.
The last photo is were they go and what they do.
