  • 1958 Bell Boy 16, Turnkey

The story of my life in boating: I have a perfectly nice, turnkey boat, motor and trailer...and consider letting it go because I've fallen under the spell of yet another project boat.

So, my '58 Bell Boy 16 express with modern four-stroke Merc 50hp outboard and solid, roadworthy trailer, is on the eBay chopping block, with the auction closing in the next 24 hours. Here are all of the details....

I know, I know...I'm an idiot to let the BB16 go, especially with the great-running, quiet, fuel-efficient four-stroke outboard.

Oh boy, she is a beauty. Where can I get a windshield like that for my 404... Or cleats. Or hand rails. Or emblems.

      Windshield for 404 Bell Boy

      John -

I should have the measurements you need by this weekend...and I might also have some BB grabrails that'll work on your 404.

...More when I take the windshield measurements.

        windshield

As you may figure out when Marty gets you the windshield measurements, the windshield was chopped somewhat by an unknown prior owner. You can see the rear mounting bracket has some cut marks that allowed the original hardware to be used with a lower profile windshield once the original plexiglas was cut. I found the lower windshield to be more attractive and more importantly, for the time I owned it, the lower windshield let me get the boat under a standard garage opening to store the boat in the garage.
