I have a '67 Merc 950SS that was going to go on my 404. With the purchase of the Suzuki I won't be needing it any more. I had plans to use it for a beer cooler after removing the power head and lower unit. But... If I can find it a good home first...
The Good:
It is Free!
Recently re-worked controls are fully functional and have the full wiring harness.
Includes hydraulic tilt - fully functional with no leaks and one new hose.
The Bad:
It has a bad cylinder and will need to be rebuilt.
Lower unit needs a prop seal replaced.
Does not include steering/cable but does have the merc linkage to connect.
This engine was primarily fresh water until my friend purchased his SeaFair several years ago. It was then used in salt water for fishing, etc (lots of trolling) and was flushed after every use using de-salting stuff.
If no takers, I'll just tear it apart and use the housing for cave art. Such pretty design work should not be destined for the recycle yard...
