How does steering location (left hand side) affect engine rotation? Does any know if that is even true? Thanks for your help. Was told that is the case by someone. Desperately trying to find make & model of an old wooden boat i am restoring, no hull number.

Engine rotation?

I believe it is prop rotation not engine rotation you need to be aware of. These are not necessarily the same depending on your drive setup.
L H rotation (counter clockwise) pulls the boat to the left and the rudder should be on the left. R H rotation is opposite obviously.
On my boat I also had to grind lift into the rudder so that it would act like a wing and pull the boat to the right to counteract this tendency. That works up to 30 35 MPH, after that HOLD ON ! :Bigdriving1:
Another item to consider is helm location, L H rotation will lift the left side of the boat. The helm should be on the left so that your weight mitigates this tendency, again R H rotation is opposite.Lovely La Rue and the Kingston Kid
