I want to learn some basic service techniques.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there would be interested in teaching me how to perform some basic service to my 35HP Evinrude.

Here is what I am looking to learn:
How to put it to sleep for the winter
How to wake it up for the summer
I also just have lot of random questions about things (i.e:replacing the control box)

I think I did a pretty good job for the winter last season (didn't fog the cylinder or use any antifreeze) and I just paid a hefty price to have a basic service, spark plug and gear oil taken care of. All things I am sure i can do if someone is willing to teach me.

I keep my boat in Ballard and would be willing to pay modestly for your time and provide some beers in the process if that's enticing.

I am also an avid crabber so if going out for some dungies would be of interest we could arrange that too!

Not sure who can do this for you but if you can score a service manual, they will pretty much tell you what is suggested and how.
Pretty much the fogging and gas stabilizer. Most of them will drop the water but some are different than others.

Hey Eric,
I can probably guide you thru the ins/outs.
Putting it away with clean lube is always good......
I can show you insides of several motors and what to do to prevent from getting into trouble ad such.
I`m sometimes on the water in Ballard wrenching on little boats (up on top of bigger boats) as I`m easy to talk into to working at the end of a dock.
As Helmar said,it`s usually fogging and stabilizer as a routine.
I also like to clean grounds, nut and bolts so they always turn when needed,OR locktighted when not.
My lip is still bleeding from working at the dealers......but it`s getting better.

I launch right there from the ramp by trader joes and keep my boat by the fred meyer so i'm sure it would be easy to find you.
