Evinrude 100's

I have a couple of Evinrude 100's Selectric (1967 and 68) that I bought to try and put together for one runner. Unfortunately, I am not engine competent. I am relient upon others to work on my engines.

A local mechanic told me that the 67 and 68 lower units are not compatible with each other. Is that true?

Also, I just found a 66' for sale online. Would it be compatible?
