merc 60 disintigrating impeller

hi. my problem is with a 1967 6 hp merc 60.i replaced the lower half of the impeller housing and impeller.started motor.it started pumping fine.tell tale became cloged.i picked out the crap and it blew some steam.poof..impeller #1 is gone..i figured either some crap did it or maybe i spun it in counterclockwise..it was greased up and clean...took apart..cleaned..swaped the stainless cup..reassembled double checkin everything...same damn thing..except tell tale didnt clog..started pissin...steam...poof..(edit)??

Short lived impellers

Sounds like you have exhaust gasses getting into the pump inlet side.

Do you think it could be from the outlet side? (sorry for the abreviated language...frustrated you know...)
