A Few Slough Run Photos

First of all, what a great video, Greg!!

My appearance at Lake Sammamish was brief, since the outboard wouldn't run for more than 2 seconds at a time. Thanks to Steve Kiesel and Tim McCrain for offering to give me a ride...but I was happy to head back home since I had to get a boat ready to swap today (for another old boat, naturally).

Anyhow, it's unusual that two 'observer' boats would break down while all the actual Slough Runners made it the whole distance to Kenmore--or, in Tim Mattson's case, all the way to Coulon Park. (Usually, it's the Slough Runners who suffer breakdowns...not the folks cruising Lake Washington or Lake Sammamish.)

For me, it was the Spring Tuneup Run just a few weeks early. Hopefully, when we have the actual Tuneup Run (also on Lake Sammamish), my boat will actually be tuned up.

Had a great time on the Lake Sat. Thanks for the ride Steve. Sure like the way your Seafair smooths out the bumps on the water! Glad to offer my service as ballast as well as anchoring your tow-rescue system.
We did luck out on the weather after all, that could have easily been a wet cold ride on the way back!
Congrats to the slough runners on a successful assault over the obstacles there. I'd like to try a run on it some day myself, good excuse for another boat.
Hope the gremlins arent too hard to sort out and looking forward to the next events.- Ross

Once again... Better late than never...

Sorry it took so long to get my few pictures up here. Spent all day Sunday finishing the Chris Craft trailer and then pulled the motor out so I can hopefully have it fully resealed by opening day...

Here are the handful of pictures I was able to take while piloting the boat. Due to scheduling conflicts I didn't have my usual shutterbug on board this year..

After calming my co-pilot down I was only able to get a picture of Tim after they slid the boat down off the bank. Although this was a scary and dangerous situation for Tim and his co-pilot, I have to again say thank you , cause if they had not gone up the bank all three of us would have hit the prop eating shallows at full speed and could have ended all our days in a hurry..

After the wet ride accross Sammamish (going with the wind) we decided to pull out in Kenmore and not risk the longer journey into the wind on lake washington. The little flat bottom gets pretty extreme when the headed into the wind, she tends to try and blow over...

Anywho, had a great time was great to see all the boats on sammamish even though we had a small group going down the river, we were surprisingly balanced in speed and agility so this was only the second slough run I have ever done where the boats stayed tightly bunched the whole time (mostly cause I wasn't running 30 minutes late trying to play catch up...)

Glad I could save the group,kinda "Divine Intervention".
The Mercs had me beat on the top end but we had pretty good agility.
Adrenaline had me going in overdrive and I don`t think we were off the water more than a few seconds.Hill was so steep,the boat slid right back into the water.Love the debris piled on the bow.
Great shots and it was a pleasure to run alongside You and Gordon ( who bravely passed us along one pretty straight run).
You guys would have been toast on the big water,we had our hands full keeping our " nose clean" ,reminded me of my early SAFE boat adventures crossing Puget Sound in Washing machine conditions.
Bye the way,not more than a few new scuffs on the entire bottom,nothing deep,which blew me away.
Now the Bow is a diferent story,I got some glassing/rubrail work to do.
Hope we can "Fly low ,and stay Under the radar" next time.....
