"Sucia Island overnight-er. Arrive Sucia Friday afternoon stay overnight Friday night and stay Sat. Do some day trip on Sat and return on Sunday . I'll meet a group off Cypress if anybody wants to leave out of Anacortes" .

I'm not leading the trip this year but I was interested in going, I haven't seen any posts or updates on this outing, did I miss it?

Two years ago GregJ, Lowell and myself went up to Sucia Island overnight and then over to Friday Harbor for lunch on Sunday. That was a fun weekend. I might be interested on meeting up with whoever on Sat -Sunday ? Chuck

Saturday thru Monday works for me, but I'm interested in anything from one night out to just a day trip. You can explore a lot of small islands in a day if you stay on the Eastern side of the San Juans. A nice day trip is exploring the South Shore of Lopez Island, it is a wind blown, wave battered coast, with small Islands and bays and rocks pepper about to test your chart reading, and chart plotter (GPS) skills. Sucia Island is a lot easier to get too, not many rocks to snag your hull.

Chuck, check your log again. ONE year ago, on July 3, I distinctly remember watching your three boats cruising down Bellingham Channel. My eyes aren't so good that I could be sure you were on your boat, but it was Bainbridge.

I might be interested in a Sat. to Sun. cruz maybe until Mon.. No committment yet cuz I would have to break other plans. I really enjoyed last years trip although I was passing a kidney stone. I would like to do it pain free this time.

            Overnight

Hey guys - I'm sorry to have not taken the lead on this trip but I have alot of stuff up in the air right now and hard to know what's going to happen by the end of the month I'm really going to try to make it out Sat Morning and stay the night Sat. and come back Sunday -, could meet the group in Bellingham Channel at the north end of Cypress Island (Pelican Beach) thats a nice place to hit the shore and have a rest spot and figure out where to go from there ? I Hope to know more this week , Been working on cleaning up the boat and have the batteries charged - probably go out today and fire it up . Been dormant since last Sept. I'll keep you posted as I get more information.

Hey Stan,You are right. It was the end of June. Time fly's. We stop off on Saturday and visted Jerry & Becky on Lummi Island on the way to Sucia. Sunday we went to Jones Island ,Friday Harbor and some other pictures going back to Anacortes.

Rick, Going out Saturday ( and meeting you in Bellingham Channel at the north end of Cypress Island ) and coming back Sunday sounds good to me.

Lowell, All due respect but that quote about , A nice day trip is exploring the South Shore of Lopez Island, it is a wind blown, wave battered coast, with small Islands and bays and rocks pepper about to test your chart reading, and chart plotter (GPS) skills. Correct Chuck, it wasn't the 3rd, it was July 1st. If you had sold it you wouldn't still have it, would you? One of the other two boats went dead in the water briefly near Cypress Head. Maybe a gas tank ran dry.

That is one feature about the club that most people over look. The Buddy system. If any problems, your not waiting for a tow or waiting alone.
I always keep a longer line to tow with.
I have also seen were you take two dock lines and tow with those too.

Joe,That's a good idea on the lines as far as looping two lines together. Chuck

Will try to hook up along the way

Check our calendar and the whole weekend is open. Will probably run over to Sucia Friday afternoon or maybe Saturday morning. Don't think we'll do an overnighter. Just drop by, say hi, and maybe cruise around a bit if we come over Saturday.

                          Sucia island rendezvous

Any idea how many might be making this event? Always weather dependent, I understand.
I could head over to Anacortes, Washington Park and escort anyone launching there. I cruise about 17 knots (20 mph).

Jerry and Becky, you could stay aboard the Saratogan. I could and usually do sleep in the cockpit....or pitch a tent ashore....

Coffee and a nice breakfast in the AM. The boat with the diesel galley stove is very warm.

                          Just a thought.....

Tim, So far we tentatively have Chuck C., Lowell , Richard, Rick, you and I. The detour traffic concerns me because us guy coming from the south would have come by way of Best Rd.. We will wait until Tues. and see how that traffic does. I for one really hate back ups and probably won't come if there's much of a traffic problem coming and going at all. If you and Clint could advise us sometime around the first of the week about the traffic situation we would really appreciate it. I will try hard to make it but I don't want to deal with a lot of crappy traffic pulling a boat.

Wow! A night on the Saratogan!

                              Hey, Tim,
Thanks so much for your generous offer of luxurious accommodations at Sucia. While it sounds great, I think we'll just make a day trip as we have a dog and cat at home that we don't have a sitter for. Be great to see you guys again. Hope the weather is much better by Friday. Been raining hard here since 3 a.m. I had stained and polyurethaned a bunch of floor molding and left it to drive on sawhorses in the drive last night. Got up at 4:30 and brought it all into the garage. Wiped it dry and it appears it will be okay. Sun. Sun. Where are you when we need you?
