Well it was another amazing year in LaConner! The day started off a little gloomy with some dark clouds and a forecast for rain showers but that didn't stop a record breaking 165 classic cars from showing off for the average crowd! The weather did however play a factor on the sparse turnout of trailer boats and lowest number of in-water boats ever! We had only 3 fiberglassics on trailers and not a single fiberglass boat in the water! There were roughly 9-10 cruisers in the water (sorry due to having my 3.5 year old with me I did not get pictures of them all) and we had 11 trailer boats including a freshly completed, home built, sailboat!! By mid day we have sunshine and the temperature rose well into the upper 70s. Which made for a truly wonderful day chatting old boats with nice folks!
This years awards for people's choice went to almost all Chris Crafts! The sailboat got top honors for wooden trailer boats. Our 1969 Chris Craft Cavalier 17 Ski Boat won the honors for trailered fiberglass! However the poles indicated a near deadlock with Bruce's gorgeous 1958 Skagit 20 Express! Maybe it was the freshly buffed 8 coats of paint that tipped the scales in our favor...
Hopefully we can get some more folks to come out next year as the crowd was a little disappointed in the lack of turnout for the boats!
Overall, it was a huge success for me as I won an award and my 3.5 year old had a great time!! Which means I should be back again next year!!!
