Baker Lake (update)

Still working on the details but we have done some research and discovered that the Resort at the north end of the lake is actually closing after labor day weekend.. This is the site where the only "marina" is on the lake, therefore we will have to plan on beaching or anchoring boats off shore at another campground.

We found the campground "Horeshoe Cove" whichs seems to be the best fit, they have 26 reservable tent / trailer sites and 3 reservable group sites (1-25 people). They have a nice paved launch ramp, and roped off swim area. This campground is also nicely centerally located on the lake and would help keep us out of the north end where the wind usualy pushes all the river debris.

I am looking into trying to get a group site at least for Saturday and we will be staying the whole weekend at the campground (not sure of site number yet) from mid-afternoon Friday though Sunday.

We are still discussing ideas for group activities, kind of looking toward copying Brian Franchini's Lake Tapps event with some sort of "flag finder poker run" The Alder Lake Treasure hunt was a first inspiration but we don't have enough knowledge of the lake to be able to find a good spot to put a treasure.

We will keep you posted on what kind of activity we decide on if we're just gonna make it a lake tour cruise...

Well i just got off the phone with the reservations people and unfortunately the Horseshoe Cove campground is fully booked for the weekend of September 19th. they have 10 non-reservable sites that are available on a first-come first-served basis but that is a little risky for a group activity...

So my research continues...

1-100 people
Basic (no hookups)
Flush toilets near by.
Has good size cove near by to anchor and or tie up boats.

Available all weekend @ $75.00 per night.. :eek:

Baker lake

We will try to get there with the Skagit offshore. If my wife is able to attend we won't be camping. Safer to bring home two more boats than one night in a tent etc..Bruce

Son agreed to keep the boat at his house while our ferry is shut down for annual maintenance so we will be at Baker Lake. Really looking forward to it. It is a beautiful lake and used to have lots of trout (I'm talking early 60's). Anyway, guess we won't have use of docks. Suppose we can live with that so long as we don't get a big wind storm. That makes it messy for beached boats.

Brian, Diane and are planning to make it Saturday. We rented a cabin for the Labor day weekend there also. Evidently it's the last weekend the resort will be open. We've been going there off and on since the sixties. Going to fish and cruise around for three days. It used to hold Kokanee, not sure if it still does. Stop by if anyone wants a little side meet!
