  • Rock and Roll Videos?

Things are pretty slow here on the Northwest Classic Boat Club website-O-Roonie, so I thought I'd try something to get you guys out of hibernation....or away from the flat screen-big games and posting again.
I don't know if posting entertainment videos here is authorized or not, so guess I'll find out?

If you've checked out my website you see that I'll be including 50's music and karaoke on my cruises. I've been thinking of button-holing Pat O'Day...remember Pat O'Day, KJR disc jockey...Pat lives here in Friday Harbor and has produced several 50's events to date... Tribute to Roy Orbison stage show being one of the more memorable. Put together a 1950's event/party.

50's events are happening around the US, but the 50's festival in Wettenberg, Germany is probably the biggest. 50's revival is also going strong in certain areas of South America.

Here is a video I snagged off youtube thought you might enjoy..especially if you grew up in the 50's. Ah! Those were the days..

Video quality isn't the best...sort of like television in the 50's...but, hey, it's free!
Kinda looks like Fonzie near the end

    From Rocky in Argentina...

Kool daddy-O. I am very familiar with Rocky's videos having rediscovered swing dancing a few years ago at an all women's dance where they included free lessons an hour before the they opened the floor for the evening dance. I love fast swing and it's a great cardio workout. It's not quite as popular here but is attracting a younger crowd. Here are two of my fav videos.

OH OH! Now I think I started something!

Wow! Think I started something! That fast swing competition sort of makes Zumba look like kids stuff!

Love 50's music and some of that 40's music is souding really good to me.

Back in 1964, Terry Stafford had a big hit with Suspicion. That's the only version I had heard. A year or so back I heard Elvis version of Suspicion recorded in 1962....put on an album and never released as a single.
I still like Terry's version, but when you hear Elvis do Suspicion, you'll know why he was (is) called the "King"!

Anyone remember "Seattle Bandstand" on TV in 1958-59? Diane and I danced fast swing on that program then. Talk about the good old days! Fortunately for everyone I couldn't find any photos!

Saved the best for last Jerry Lee Lewis

Here's the third most played song from 1958. Originally recorded by the Big Bopper. Jerry's version is just over the top! This is great!

                  Fav from the 40's

Here's one of my favs from the 1940's. Andrews Sisters singing Rum and Coca Cola. Great sing-along....about working girls in Trinidad during the second world war. "Both mother.....and.....daughter....working for the yonky dollah." "We show you a real good fine time!"
