Former Washington State passenger only Ferry M/V Skagit overturns and sinks of Tanzania. 31 known dead, 100 missing. Vessel hit heavy winds and seas, probably overloaded. This occurred July 18.

When I was in Hong Kong many years ago a similar event occured on the Hong Kong-Kowloon ferry. It was a result of overloading and heavy seas, nearly everyone died as I recall. It seems like they overload everything there and accept it as the norm.
