  • Back in Use! Seafair returns!

    Hey All,
Just got back from my first trip since the debacle in Jan.
Hull seems ok and I made it all the way to Duwamish Head before the Thunderclouds rolled on thru.
All systems appear to be go for Saturday.
Need to replace some radios, too quiet without even a vhf.
Took some pics, hope they aren`t too large to post.....

    Looking good Tim.

Where is that ramp on the Duwamish and is it public?

      Jack,
The New 1st Ave bridge has this gem hidden underneath at the end of Michigon St and 4th ave south.Easiest to look for Mike`s Chilli Dog stand, then head west a block or two. When you see a fleet of derelict hulls behind a Cyclone fence ,you`re there.
Even saw a Delaney Powercat poised for "Tribal Resto" meaning the foredeck will be chopped and set-up for gillnetting Salmon.
The Tribes use this ramp pretty hard thru the summer /Fall but for free ,the lack of dock and steep slimy ramp do keep most away.
Minus Tides also are not for retrieval.....major slime,4x4 or good traction a must.High tide is too easy.
Also need to watch for Tugs blowing thru, the only time you really see any waves.
It is freshwater ,never busy and is still free, like Public Access should be.
If Seattle were to waive their launch fees ,I bet there would be more boaters.
You can moor a boat on this river for $100-300 bucks a month dependng on size.A 40 ` slip goes for $350 or so,easily shared by two.
Being 10 minutes from my house is also a bonus.
Bet there are fewer people using this than some launches way out in the woods.

            Tim,
I am familiar with the neighborhood having worked at 515 Front street for 20 years. Sounds very handy, I hate Don Armeni because of the wind most times.
I will definitely check this out once Lil' Red is seaworthy, Thanks for the info.
