Bob Alley- Alley Lumber Co. ??

Searched Skagit on the web and found a brief history of Bell Buoy and Skagit on the HistoryLink.org site. HistoryLink is a website dedicated to Washington State history.

Written by Bob Alley with some material from Marty Loken, and photos from Alley Lumber Co. archives. Some early Skagit photos I haven't seen before. HistoryLink.org essay # 7254

Anyone know or know any more about Bob Alley?

I notice that Bill Alley is credited at the bottom of the piece, and that Bob Alley was apparently a dealer for Skagit boats. There's an archivist-researcher named Bill Alley listed in Portland, and because Bob Alley was shown as a dealer back in 1958, it's possible that Bill is Bob's son--or some other surviving relative--who had access to Alley archives. (Also--and this is just another guess--the fact that one of the photos shows a 20' Skagit being displayed at the Los Angeles Boat Show in the late 1950's, might suggest that Alley Lumber Company was in southern California.

Bob Alley - Bill Alley

Marty, thanks for adding some missed details. I'll see if I can find Bill Alley. Always interesting seeing completely new info surfacing.....

As to the whereabouts of Skagit 31 hull number one, sold in the Long Beach Calif. area, I'm hoping it will be found once the Sea Magazine/ Saratogan article is out... This is exciting!
