...i think ? Trying to plan the gas for this coming summer. The Skagit has a 28 gal tank above the floor with the 2006 Merc 115hp 4stroke and just added another 12 gal tank for long range trips. When Marty, Greg and i did the Edmonds to Olympia trip ( in about 2008 or 9 ) and back, i burn only 18 gal ( same as Greg James ) in the Rosario with it's 50 hp 2 stroke GREAT running Evinrude motor, so i expecting big crusing range with this 4 stroke baby. In the G-3 ( 65hp Merc 2 stroke ) i have one 12 gal tank, so i just went to the gas station ( $3.13 last week ) and fill up two extra 6 gal tanks ( will just pump it into the 12 gal tank ) without the oil for now and tape reminder slips telling me to add the oil before i use them plus i added the Sta-Bil now to keep it fresh. On the Skagit i just went and got a new extra 12 gal tank ( gas was $3.33 ! ) as well and did the same thing with it.What i'am getting at is, i now have a extra 12 gal's for the G-3 and the same for the Skagit for this summer. I think i have enough gas for the G-3 for summer fun and maybe i might need to get another 12 gal for the Skagit before summer is over ? ? So now i have 24 gal's for the G-3 and 40 gal's for the Skagit. The idea was not to spend maybe $3.75-$4.50 per gal OR more this summer ! Chuck

Well Chuck; gas down here in Santa Barbara is already at $4 for regular...and that's certainly not at a marina.
I planned on trekking over to Idaho this summer with my boat; now I'm not so sure.

Hey chuck i have the 2009 115 Opti and i still am running fuel from Lake Roosevelt. You have enough fuel to go to Canada. The difference in fuel burn on my Opti is insane. Like the everready bunny just goes and goes and goes. Cost output was big but am so happy with trouble free cruising.
Hope to see you this year but probably not at a fuel dock.:Good one:John & Diane Kelly

Chuck, Hang in there. California gas has always been more. I remember when i would drive down i more or less stopped at the last station before the California border to " fill her up ". I was thinking on taking the G-3 to Lake Shasta in June ,but now kind of wonder. Hum...
John, I think i picked the right year to go with a 4 stroke.Plus i bought the whole boat with the 4 Stroke and the like new dual trailer with electric brakes. The boat was basically rebuilt before i got it so it was a good package deal.

Strategic Outboard Fuel Reverve
Chuck has his own private "Strategic Outboard Fuel Reserve" .
Sorry to say he has possibly hoarded Winter -time Oxygenated Fuel.
Chuck, you may want to use it up + re-fill right as the normal Blend returns.
They add 5% Benzene on top of the 10% alcohol to keep our smog down in King County.
Google "Outboard Fuel issues" and see what comes up.....seems even new 4 strokes will cry foul with current T-10 fuels.
I used to keep my 40 gallon tank filled on my Safe boat and one year it saved us when the power went down for 3 days.......lately it hasn`t been easy to bank much gas money let alone Gas itself.
Enjoy the 4 stroke Chuck,we`re drooling.

I recently found a gas station that sells only one grade of "non-ethanol" gas. Can't remember the name, but it is on the opposite side of the freeway from the Little Creek Casino south of Shelton.

Hey Tim, I'am not about ready to dump 24 gals out of my "Strategic Outboard Fuel Reserve Farm ". It seems like whenever 4 stroke motors come up it's always bad news about the freeking gas.LOL ! The Skagit has 28 gal's of non "Winter -time Oxygenated Fuel " and Sta-Bil was added for 12 month supply.G-3 Samething as far as it's on board tank. If i do have some it would ONLY be the 24 gal in the garage. By the way, my fibelflectors should take care of any problems ( issues ) Tim, I just "google " what you said and i took one look and decided that it would be to my advantage to click off as that just means one more thing to worry about in this perfect world. Thanks for the info anyway. Worst comes to worster, i could always put it in the G-3 ( 36 gal's ) and pour all of that good oil into it to take care of that crappy winter gas. LOL Please excuse me, as we just got home from going out to dinner and i had some fudge on my ice cream and it gives me a real big SUGAR high. The doctor gets a little upset when i do that , but it's cheaper than booze. Now i will be up all night. Chuck1957 17' Skagit Express Cruiser

Sorry to get you worried Chuck ,I was really just razzing you and then got side-tracked with fuel fodder......We`re saturated with girl Scout Cookies so I`m equally sugar-filled.

Mr. Love, How quick we forgot. As per our agreement when you purchase the Davis Craft ,you and i agreed you would only have the naming rights for the county of Whatcom. If you dare to come south of the county line you will be in violation of our agreement. So there fella...lol1957 17' Skagit Express Cruiser

Contracts ??
Judge is going to want to see that in writting ! Actually the boat is now retired to a brand new Timber frame house in Anchorage Alaska. In a warm heated boat house . Sold it to a guy who had it put in a large crate and shipped it up there - boat & Trailer. I kept the 3.5 H.P. Johnson that I had on it and the 10 H.P. Johnson you had was part of the "Falls Flyer " deal. So all is good he can have the nameing rights for Alaska , Can't wait to get out and give that new 4 stroke of yours a run for the $$$$$$$ Getting close .:boater1:Rick & Sarah
