Tim- I'm planning on being there and can take one guest, possibly two if I'm the only one in my boat. Can't say for sure at this point. Kent

I could use some help before hand setting up the lunch room if you'd like to help with that, I was going to launch early so I could do that. And if you'd like you could ride down with me and cruise to the seaport, you're always good company!
And I won't make you stand by the freeway with a cardboard sign, either ... you can drive a little ways and park in my driveway!

Veterans Event
I would like to attend this event, however the fuel cost is a bit prohibitive. I received your letter. I'll give you a call..

I sympathize with Tim's situation. I, for one, would be happy to contribute $50 to help buy fuel for the Saratogan so Tim could take a bunch of the wounded warriors for a boat ride they'll remember for a very long time.

Roll Call
OK, next weekend is coming up fast, here are our participants and passenger counts:
Chuck Carey - 4
Greg James - 2
Chuck B - 5
Rick Love - 2
Marty Loken - 2
Melanie Pacific - 2
Kent Hodges - 1
Lowell Lorenz - 2
Tim McCrain - 2
Richard Amberson - 2
Ingvar Carlson - 1
Norm Boddy - 1
Total passengers - 26
We also have several people outside the club who were contacted by Ingvar and Richard who have said they will attend, so that will give us room for 3-4 more passengers. According to the latest word from The Warrior Transition Batallion's Rec Coordinator, it's looking like we'll be able to accomodate all the soldiers that are anticipated to come, but it won't hurt to have extra room so if you're on the fence your attendance would be appreciated!
Greg James has graciously volunteered to go early with me to set up the lunch room, so if anyone arrives early we'll be there. The soldiers are scheduled to arrive at 11:00, so we'd like everyone to be tied up at the seaport's dock by then. The seaport has reserved their entire dock for us.
I'll post any more info or updates in this thread as needed, if you have any questions post them here also.
Thanks to everyone who has committed to participate, this will be a fun event and I'm looking forward to seeing you all!

What time do you want boats in the water and floating?
Do you have driving directions to get to the launch?
Instead of having a floating time, our target is to have all boats tied up at the seaport's dock by 10:45. The soldiers will arrive at 11:00. Last year it took us about 45 minutes to cruise from Point Defiance to the seaport. Of course it's OK to be earlier than that. I'd like to have a captain's meeting before the vets arrive to go over the route, etc.
Take 16 west from I-5, take exit 132 (6th Ave), turn left at the end of the ramp, go under the freeway to Pearl Street which is the next intersection just on the other side of the freeway, turn right on Pearl and stay on it until you run right into the park.
Glad you can make it, we'll see you there.

Some last minute notes
OK, just a couple of final notes:
The Seaport has asked us to be extra mindful of safety during this event, especially when embarking / disembarking at their dock. Please remember that our passengers may not be experienced boaters, please don't hesitate to instruct your passengers on how to safely board and disembark.
We have been issued a Coast Guard event permit and will have an escort from the Coast Guard Auxiliary for the cruise. (From the Seaport, not from the launch to the Seaport) Please be sure your vessel is in compliance with Coast Guard requirements, including having the proper number of PFDs for your passengers. If anyone is unable to bring a VHF radio, please buddy up with someone who does have one and who is willing to relay instructions to you. It is important that we all follow any directions given by our escorts. I'll have a couple of things to hand out at the Seaport concerning our route and distances to maintain from certain types of vessels.
I'd like to have a captain's meeting before the vets arrive to go over the route, etc.
Thank you all for participating, see you there!
Tim
