  • Chuck, What's This?

    Chuck,

Here's what pulled into Alderbrook Resort yesterday. It looks like an old passenger ferry that has been converted into 3-story living quarters. Do you know what it is?

It doesn't have a name on it. Does it have Washington origins?

Ed, The boat was originally constructed in 1938, and was commissioned as a 12-car ferry from Herron Island in the 1960s. It was later used for bulkhead construction, but the boat’s owner died 10 weeks after the purchase. It sat moored in Shelton for several years. Marty and GregJ and I did see it at the end of end trip back in about 2008 ? to the Southsound , this was the one we saw coming up towards Tacoma ( at that time it had flowers pots hanging all over it. ) were i heard it was kept as a liveaboard in Tacoma. People have seen it in the San Juan Island and over in Coupeville as well. Chuck.

I'll go along with that. The ceiling on the "car deck" is too low for any kind of truck. Even the early car ferries had a good 10' clearance. It is very cool though.:Cold1:
