  • Bell Boy Heads South

After a brief listing on eBay, we sold the 1958 Bell Boy 16 express to Golden State Glassics members Gemmel and Arlene Coloma of Sacramento, who drove north to fetch the little BB16 today.

Gemmel and Arlene are veteran glassheads with at least a few other boats, and they may attend their first GSG event this Sunday with our old Bell Boy...assuming they make good time on the return trip.

Really great couple--nice to see the boat going to the proverbial good home.

    Have fun, Gemmel and Arlene!

Way to get that treasure sold, Marty. Congrats to Gemmel and Arlene for identifying a great buy on a useable, turn-key classic classic.

It is a shame that the Bell Boy had to be exported to make a deal. Since the Northwest is a boating mecca, it makes sense that many cool boats of the era have survived. But, we seem to be spoiled by the easy availability of many really neat, innovative designs from the late 50's. It is disappointing to realize that my fleet of has-beens, as they are revitalized, will only have value in other markets.

Assuming that you are drawn to this site by great memories, or appreciation of "space age" design. It is incumbent on all of us to give momentum to this hobby with active participation.

If you are inclined to visit and read this forum on a regular basis, take a moment to contribute your thoughts on some posts. There is nothing like fresh content to generate interest, invested members, and a market for our FiberJunk when we get distracted by the next dreamboat...G
