Classic-Boat Podcast...

There's a fairly new website, blog and podcast called Hooked on Wooden Boats, put together by Dan Mattson, who lives north of Seattle and has been interviewing a variety of folks involved in classic boats for his weekly podcast.

Just fyi, yesterday he aired a recent interview he did with me at the boatshop. While his focus is on classic wooden boats, new and old, he's interested in classic-glass boats, too, and seemed to enjoy learning more about old Skagits, Bell Boys, etc. during his shop visit.

Hey Marty and Dan,

Enjoyed listening to the podcast over breakfast this morning, it is always interesting to hear what motivates people to do the crazy things that encompass their lives.

I too, lament that more people don't take the time to build or restore something, rather than purchase new. Without the passing of skills of toil, and memories created in pursuits of relaxation: such as fishing - I wonder how future generations will spend their "me" time??

Here's to hoping that the students of wooden boat building can find a living or hobby in the field!

Podcast

Good show on the podcast/interview. I agree with slow-mo about up and coming generations not being able to fix a toaster. Skills start early. Best be showing kids how to do stuff by 9 or 10. That's when the die is cast.

Thought the introduction was a wee bit long (8+ minutes). Best to do a brief introduction of the guest and topic and save the advertising for later.
