  • 14' Sabrecraft

The 14' Sabrecraft we had when I was a kid was built in 1958. It has the seats molded into the deck mold. Later...1959ish, they did away with the molded in seats. This is the only one of these I've ever seen. Marty, what model is this?
I'd like to find one like it....but have never even seen one.

      1958 Sabrecraft Model

      Tim -

I would guess that your family's old Sabrecraft was the Explorer model, which in the attached brochure was listed as being 15'-4" in length with a 72" beam. It was one of their only runabout models in that size range with split, molded front seats...just like the one you took to Cape Scott.

Here a Sabrecraft brochure page showing the Explorer model. There's no indication of model year, but from the styling of the other boats I'd guess about 1958-'59...probably '59.

The Explorer model is shown in the lower-center photo.

        Sabre Craft Explorer

Thanks for the brochure, Marty. I think they made the Explorer just one year.
The 15'4" length, is that down the gunwale? I always thought it was a 14. Pretty good boat, but the hull wasn't deep enough forward so tended to dig in in big waves.

        Happy New Year
