Are you going to build it?

William D. Jackson was quite the naval architect for the common man. He designed the 12-foot Ace in 1956 and stretched by the Sandes to 13 feet.

Aces are being built this winter in Washington, Missouri and Ohio. Two of them will be the desired 13 feet.

I understand Jackson drew the plans by hand and someone else put them in publishable form. I'd love to get a copy of the hand drawn Ace.

Great boats Wally & Steve. I've seen some really nice bartenders, and my parents had a Sande Ace before I was born.

I was doing some research on our 1948 fiber glass/wood McChesney project, when I ran across Eager Eve and thought she should get some airtime. Larger wooden hulls and associated maintenance don't really float my boat - but I do like the simplicity of a plywood runabout. I wish that more Sande's would show up at some of our events. Tim McCrain has a little wood hull similar to a Sande that he was planning on installing a jet with mid/engine in the front cockpit, which would be really innovative.

As for Eager Eve, she'd be quite a project for the right Gent or Lass. Here's the next steps...

The Mason Lake gathering would be perfect except coming that late, we're usually camping, fishing and visiting our kids in the Rockies. The Rocky Mountain fall is something else.

And there's the matter that I don't have a license plate on the Ace's trailer. That could be fixed though.

The Sande Ace guys usually gather in late July/early August. It depends a lot on Ned H.'s schedule (since he comes from Sun Valley) and the tides. Three Fiberglassics NW boats were there one year and frankly, I think they might have been a bit bored. You fellows with the bigger boats want to get out and cover some miles. We zip around, wave at Bill Gates' surveillance camera at Alderbrook, beach and spend the rest of the day looking at the boats and motors. Some have trailered boats to the backyard. It's a gathering and not a real cruise.
