Our boat collections

Why do we collect boats? Who knows, must be insane?

Well I decided to share my boats, and see if anyone can top my collections, past or present.

1st photo is 1998, 24' Sabercraft, 28' Chris, 20' Skagit, 17' Skagit, 12' Columbia. I sold all but the Skagit 17'.

Next the Duroboat 14', the Harborcraft 10', the 14' flat bottom skiff, the 14' Smokercraft, the 36' Storbro, it's tender 10' boston whaler, 6' rowboat, 8' sailboat.

The Storebro, the Smokercraft, the Harborcraft are for sale. The 6' rowboat and the 8' sailboat are free. I'm done collecting.

I think Chuck may be able to top my record, we shall see....?

Steve, Here's some of the boats i have had. I do know a few other guys that have had a lot more than the two of us ...right? Mine have been Skagits,Dorsetts ,etc. The Lady Clipper was one boat i swap before i even got it home. There are some others that ,as they say flip and never did anything with. Now i only have three if i count the Dorsett behind the fence . Chuck

Hi Steve, No it was not what they say is a "true" Bartender ( but was a great handling boat in very rough waters ) but one time i was in a perfect storm off of Whidbey Island and i don't think i would have made it back if i had been in another styled boat in comparison. There was about 3-4 other boats back in the 60's-70's and 1 in the fifty's ( Dorsett ) that i could not find pictures of and about 6-7 i never restored as well. Looking back at the one's i should have kept would be the Glasspar G-3 (fun boat ), Dorsett Farallon ( but hated that motor ) Skagit Rosario ( loved that boat and was great in everyway), Davis Craft Skiff ( childhood memory's ) The Skagit 20 "Bainbridge" ( going on 3 years ) i have now i really like with the 4 stroke and hopefully i will like the Skagit 18 "Chippewa" when i'am done with her and then "maybe" the Dorsett behind that fence and then i will hang it up. Hope things are going well for you in your retirement ! Chuck

Life is good down here Chuck. Up to my knees in snow, with more on the way tomorrow. Can't wait for the lakes the thaw out. Finally got the Johnson 60 on my Glaspar Sedan running last Fall. That boat has been down a lot with engine problems, so I plan to run it a lot this summer. I'm hoping to make it up for one of the club outings.

Might have good news for you, Chuck. I'm thinking of parting with Rosario (but not until the end of summer). Not because we don't love her but because of my health and age. I'm planning to shed toys so Becky doesn't have to deal with them when I'm gone. Then, of course, if we have a great summer and I'm still feeling up to launching and retrieving her, I might keep her for the summer of 2014. Right now I'm feeling a lot better than my doctor expects me to feel.

Jerry, You have to keep her for quite a while as i know you love her ! Keep ahead of those doctors ! Last month i told Sheila , i can't believe i'am going to be 71 in 2013. Sheila said, Honey i have news for you ...you are 71 now. You will be 72 in 2013...OMG ! Here's a picture after i got done with her coming into LaConner by the Rainbow Bridge back in 2004 after who knows how many years later since she was built in 1957. Chuck

I think I am at 11 if I count my 10 foot lake boat.
