    Outboard mechanic needed in Astoria OR for older Johnsons/Evinrudes

    Anyone know of a good mechanic that works on old (1955-1973) Johnson/Evinrudes in or around Astoria OR?

    I have searched the marina's, marine houses, etc and no one seems to know of a person who works on these old engines.....

    I think we will have to hear from the Oregon boys on this one.
    I know of a Merc person in the Salem area but no OMC as of yet.

    I will contact Super Sportster as I know he is a OMC and Bearcat guy.

      Johnson Evinrude Mechanic in Astoria

      I'm moving to South Bend, WA which I'm guessing is 40-50 miles north of Astoria.
      Don't have a shop set up yet, but that's the plan....
      Vintage Johnson and Evinrudes are the only outboards I'd work on....

        What's this? You leaving Friday Harbor? Taking the Saratogan south? Trailering it or taking it around the outside? You will be missed up here in the San Juans!

              Just saw this and yes I know a guy in Clatskanie that works on these. What exactly do you have that needs work? I will contact him and see if he's interested.

                The motor is new to me, came on my Dorsett. The motor starts (after I rebuilt the carb), shifts, pumps water and generally sounds OK. I need someone who knows these things to check it out for me.

                    Made contact finally, bad news as he is not interested. Seems he's worked on several OB's in the three years he's been in Clatskanie and has been paid very little for his efforts so he's burned out and fed up............Bummer!
