  • Perfect evening

About 5:30 Jay backed the Tabu out of her berth at Newport Shores and we headed south under an awesome blue sky. I was standing near the hatch on the bridge talking about the boat when the smell of dinner cooking wafted though the hatch. Now that is my idea of boating!
We berthed at Coulon Pk, took the dogs for a walk and showed the boat to a person who's dad had been a sea captain at one time. After he left we sat down to dinner and I got to once again enjoy Tara's cooking. After dinner we headed back while watching an awesome sunset off the port side. Watching Jay nudge the Tabu back into it's slip with only a couple feet between it and the newer Chris Craft next to it made it obvious he has done this before. He says after the 54ft Egg Harbor they had this feels like a sports car. After tieing up we finished the day with a large piece of strawberry short cake. I think I could get used to this.
The Tabu was built in 1940 and got her name from the gas rationing in the early days of the war. Because of that she was first launched in 1945.
Anybody that would like to enjoy opening day on the water and spend some time aboard a neat old classic are welcome to get in touch with me and we will make arrangements to welcome you aboard. Send me a PM or call my cell at 206-920-0844 Barry Yes I know. I left the camera in the truck.
