Here's the first of many photos I shot on the San Juan Islands cruise. As you can see we had perfect weather and calm seas for the most part. I'll write and post more pictures later.....

Hey Tim, I never saw the Patos light house open to the public. Get any inside photos?
Last time I was there it needed a paint job, see photo.

I'm going to guess that sandy beach is Clark island?

About three years ago a gal by the name of Linda Hudson took on the challenge of fixing up the lighthouse and opening it up to the public. Repairs were extensive including the surrounding grounds.
She brought in a construction crew to do the heavy work. She had the plywood removed from the windows and had installed half inch thick Lexan covers, mounted in rubber grommets. There were a group of volunteers running the gift shop and history section while we were there. They were very interested in the fact that my former wife's cousin was the last light keeper on Patos. So I'm going to try to make a connection for them (both).

Yes the long sand beach is on the west side of Clark. A really fabulous marine park!
I'll post some pics of the lighthouse once I get the size reduced....

Hey Tim,
Who do you know at Vendovi Island? Last time I was there, was 1985.
My neighbor, George Garlick, got a call from the caretaker on Vendovi island, who reported seeing an injured eagle.

George and his wife Lois, were members of the nature conservancy, and they needed a ride to the island. That’s when they called me.

We met the caretaker and he gave us a tour of the island, including a small cemetery he made for John Fluke, who had just passed away.

The Fluke family business is known for building high quality test equipment. They owned the private island for many years.

We never did find the eagle however, I took a few photos. Here is how the island looked in 1985.

George Garlick was a lead designer at Bell Boy and Norseman, years ago.

When I was in the Navy (71-73) we had a digital Fluke meter that we used to calibrate the inertial navigation system on A-6A Intruders. He probably got enough from that one meter to make a down payment on the island. Vendovi has fallen in to the hands of the San Juan Land Trust (or something like that), and is open to the public. There are a couple of caretakers living in the house and the lone grave is still there.

Yes hand held. The camera has an image stabilizing lens and I added You tube's stabilization. Pretty good for hand held.....

Canadian Rockies in the distance, north end of Lummi Island and Mt. Baker. Cruising doesn't get much better than this.

Greg maybe it's because your boat is to fast for the video. Not at home will get a hold of you wheni get home. Chuck
