  • August trip to Prevost harbor: Tim's historic photo?

Some may remember Tim said a few months ago, that he would like to re-take this historic photo,
of the 31, in Prevost harbor, on Stuart Island. If not August, September?

Washington parks has a web site:

    http://www.parks.wa.gov/593/Stuart-Island

They have a big dock, half a dozen mooring buoys, and a mooring chain.

    Sound like a party?...........Steve

Well the 25th is rather inconvenient... Why would the state pic a non-holiday Monday?

If we tried for Saturday Sep 27th then Declan and I would make it happen and would likely have a friend or two with us!! You need at least two kids if you really want to recreate the scene...

Man, that sounds like such a cool gathering. A bit far to go in the 404 though.

Hey John, Put in at Anacortes and just zip thru the islands. Carry a extra fuel tank if need be. I'am going to try to make it if the Doctors will let me. Chuck

I was thinking about launch the Chris Craft in Bellingham and running over but that is long voyage for the boat's first time ever being in saltwater... I may have to find another method for getting there with a two year old.

Another idea? Trailer your boat on the ferry, and launch at Roche harbor.
Your run time from there is 20 min. to Prevost harbor.
Here are some other San Juan Island boat launches:

I'm sure Tim would know the best place to launch?

It's expensive to bring a trailer boat over to San Juan Island on the ferry. Probably about $200! Washington Park on Fidalgo Island is the best place to launch. This time of year, the waters around the San Juans are pretty calm. Been flat here for several days and September is usually calmer still. Doable for just about any boat, 14 feet and larger.

                        Tim

                        P.S. I'll post a date here shortly.....

Totally in agreement with Chuck and Tim- if you're coming from Skagit County or the South, Washington Park is the best location to launch from for a straight out trip to the SJ's. If you want a longer run on the water, try launch in LaC and go out through the channel to the north, or , with a buddy, through Deception Pass at the right point of the tides. This time of year, all should be relatively uncrowded....best to all, bruceb

Chuck, WOW! That's a lot of dough to ride the ferry towing a trailer! I recall bringing the Saratogan over from Anacortes to Orcas on the ferry in 1988. Was about $60! Ha!
