My boat has been dead for the last few weeks because of a bad coil. Originally I thought it was the gas but I took a sample out and put it in a clear jar. It never seperated. I replace the Petronix ignition, cap, rotor and had ceramic resistors installed but it still would not start. So, it had to be the coil. Here's the thing: the coil tested fine using a volt meter. However, it can be deceiving. Once under a load (throttling up) it doesn't have enough to keep the engine going and you cannot measure that. If all else fails replace the coil! Man I feel better!
