Marty and all,
Haven`t been on here as much as I`ve wanted to but do watch for major news when taking a break.
Seeing Chuck`s heart issue news awhile back , I e-mailed him a get well message and got a call from Chuck. He sounded hopeful but I didn`t realize he was close to checking out.
I am still in shock that we are without one of the most active members in our boating community.
Knowing he had more to share in EACH of the two clubs ,Classicboatclub + the Golden State Glassics than probably the rest of us combined ,it is hard to imagine who could ever fill this void.
The keyword there is sharing ,whether stuff or knowledge.
How to replace what is priceless?
Chuck raised the bar on quality and his boats always gave us wannabees something to strive for.
Someday I hope to get one done as far and as nice as Chuck.
He and JP are cruising off into the Sunset!
The state Ferries do stop and allow Ashes to be poured on the Sound , my sister is with the public relations.....
Not sure if a Memorial cruise could start with an classic boat Ferry escort from downtown Seattle as we gather in mass.
Reminds me of a great Chuck Carey story when we cruised the Ship Canal and the Coasties started picking us off and boarded boats one by one until Chuck was getting it too.We all slinked away with one eye back towards Chuck`s boat ,now with two suited Coasties doing their duties......Tim McCrain `s quote was classic , "No ,no ,we don`t need to see the Vacume Cleaner Sock" , as Chuck was giving them the "Full Tour".That will teach them.
The fact that gas is now around $2 bucks is almost a sick joke.Chuck would itemize his fuel savings after buying it cheap before summer.
He also planned each year of boating on a map laden with color-coded dots so as to keep the events all in order.Remember the "Dots"?
RIP Mr . Carey ,
Tim Mattson
