  • PowerCat Speed Trials On South Sound

We had the most purrrfect conditions possible on Puget Sound yesterday. I just got my 115 Merc out of the shop on Saturday with some new spark upgrades. Also I swapped out my stock 19" aluminum prop for a 20" Quicksilver Laser II stainless steel prop (high rake). She is now ready for business.

Mom and dad took their 21' Bellboy Dreaman out to escort me, just in case things went bad. Normally I would've gone up to one of the lakes, but with such a nice day yesterday I figured it would be a zoo, soo I opted for Fair Harbor (near Allyn). Well I was right their was no one on the water out there (as usual) and it was like glass, perfect conditions for speed runs.

Long story short. 55mph at 5,600 rpm. Now thats freeway speed except I was only inches above the water in my 15' long boat. I juped a few of my own wakes at 40+ and she came clear out of the water, landing stern first.

Once again purrrfect. She turns tight circles and she does it flat. This is not like any boat I have driven before. A true speedboat! I know some people put 200 hp motors on the 16T (what mine really is), and run in excess of 80 mph, but I am very content zipping along at 45 with throttle to spare.

I'll see if any of my brothers pictures turned out and post them later.
