  • Rosario floats, runs!!!

A strange thing happened to the McRories yesterday. We launched Rosario, the Skagit Express that we bought from Chuck Carey. Had a wonderful time. The motor started right up and ran smoothly. We cruised across Bellingham Bay and circled Chuckanut Island. It was sunny and warm and we flew across the water. Even let Becky take the helm until she pushed the boat to 38 mph! It was a bit too choppy for that so I made her sit in the First Mate seat. Sort of a time out for speeding.
Of course, everything couldn't be too perfect. While everything we got from Chuck was, I had moved my electric winch to the new trailer and it wouldn't pull the boat up. Winch ran but slipped. I had to back the trailer all the way under so we could run the boat right up on the trailer.
Today it is going in the shop for a custom made Sunbrella cover. Looked at boat covers at Wal-Mart for $110 but decided Rosario deserves better. Will be selling the Larson Sea Lion to pay for the cover.
Hate to see her go but, on the other hand, am getting rid of her because she didn't always want to go. Or, more correctly, she wanted to go out but frequently didn't want to come back. I can't be like you guys with boat farms. I presently have three boats and a fifth wheel trailer seting on the county road in front of my house. (Trust no county officials know who Lootas1 is.)

Jerry, I have been waiting for your report on your first outing ! I knew ( and everyone else too ) she was a good runner but with ALL of the bum luck you have had have, i have been holding my breath. I'am glad you and Becky had a great day out there on the high sea's and even made it back home. See you in LaConner ? I still need to talk to Rosario ( privately ) and let her know i still love her. LOL ! ! Best,Chuck

All right! But no whispering in her ear "come back to me!"

          Jerry,
It's interesting that The Sea Lion has such a unique history of taking such a long time to finally see the water, then when she does she doesn't seem to like it much, and gives you grief until you move on! A superstitious person would make something of that ...

"Poop in her own bilge". Now that's funny.

I know you have another one waiting in the wings, but I was really surprised to see you sold her. Before joining the club a year and a half ago, I saw Rosario at the LaConnor show. So that boat has always been a favorite of mine. Would like to have an Express 17 sometime in the future.

I like the statement that she really likes to go - just doesn't want to come back!

Congtratulations on the 'new' boat! If Chuck comes by, you better guard the socks...
