I have another question. Has anyone out there replaced their regulator to an external alternator building their own brackets and stuff or is it better to just buy the kit that is offered for that application? AND can a guy just use a regular alternator out of an old chevy, one wire or three wire?????????

Most of the marine stuff has been sealed or has screens for spark arrest.
Gases do build up in the bilge area and the story goes, one spark and Kah Plow.:eek:
