Chuck - That's just a great vintage photo, thanks for posting it. I would also be very interested to learn more about that boat.

Looks really similar to a Speedliner. There was one for sale at the Whidbey Island Estate sale last month for $800. There were quite a few manufacturers that made boats of this style, as well as home built versions. The Speltz books (volume IV) has tons of pictures of them.

          Speedliner

Here's a 1956 Speedliner ad from the Boat Builder's Handbook. You could buy some of them in a kit. I saw a near perfect Speedliner Torpedo last Wednesday. It was completely original with only a slight wrinkle in the old varnish on the deck. And no oyster gouges on the bottom!

            boat id

the boat in the photo is a Raveau. it was used by Mercury in their 25000 and 50000 mile endurance tests. there is a great web site at Reveau Boats. on their 1960 photo gallery there is a photo of the same boat being raced by Treasure Stoke in the Gold Coast Marathon.

Here is the link to the Raveau site, this is just a great site with basically everything you ever wanted to know about Raveau boats.

If that's the best you can come up with, just beat it!

Does look like him, tho, doesn't it?
