My first boat is a 1975 Apollo that's 17 feet long and that I bought in "almost running condition" for $300. It has a 120 bhp, stern drive, 150 ci 4 cylinder. It has yet to see water, at least on my watch. I just bought my second boat, a 1965 Fiberform that's 18 feet long. It has an Evinrude, 88 bhp outboard built in 1987. It's supposed to be in very good shape, but I'll go through it before I venture out onto the Sound with it. I am going through This Old Boat and have the 2nd Edition on order already. I passed the online version of Boater's Safety Education as soon as it went online in 2008. I'm already having a great time!

Welcome! I'm a newbie also. Well, not a newbie at boating but a newbie at boating in classic boats. I'm climbing up the learning curve myself and have found people on here to be incredibly helpful.
Congrats on your new boats. Do post pics when you get a chance.Ed & Lindsey
