Got
the floor out as she is going to be foamed with the new closed cell
foam floation.
Floor
was soft around the edges in places Lots of cleaning.
|
|
Its
time to run the pressure washer to get a good look at the stringers.
This is some what like the Skagit boat with its Fiberglass stringers.
We do have Wooden frames glassed in so I will be testing those next.

Here
is just a quick shot of the front of the cabin area. She will go back
to being Red and White with new hardware installed. |
|
I
was able to inspect the cross frames, all tested Fine so I drilled
more out for the drain lines from the cabin to the rear of the stearn.
Any water that gets in the cabin will go through those two white PVC
water lines. Still needs pressure washted but not done making a mess
yet.

This
was a job. Days of chiseling out the old wood down the fiberglass. |
|
Pattern
making.
This
is were I just cut some of what is called Door Skin into two inch strips.
Grab the hot glue gun and a bunch of popcicle sticks.
|

|
|
|
Here
is were I adjust the pattern for the other layers of wood to be laminated
together for a super strong transom. The next layer will have to be
just a tad longer on the bottom.
|
|
I
cut out the patterns and dry fitted each of them in the transom with
wood screws, which holes will be filled with fiberglass resin during
acutal glue up. Any trimming needs done now. |
|

|
|
|
|
I
was taught to seal the heck out of things.
You
seal the wood and keep sealing it utill it no longer accepts the sealer.
Most
of the time, its twice on flat areas and two to three times on all
edges. Most important part, Double or Tripple seal the edges !!!
|
|
They
all fit will so its time to glue them in.
I
use the Fiberlay Laminiting resin that is designed for just this, Laminating.
Glass resin the crap out of the transom's fiberglass as well as the
good. Use whatever is required to bring the fiberglass and wood tight
together. I used Clamps and Screws.

Just
more of the lay up here.
Doesn't
look like much of the floor got cleaned, but it was pressure washed
and evacuated out the two drain holes into a seperation bin.
|
|
Here
you can see were its been clamped as well as a bunch of screws used
to bring that first layer flat in contact with the fiberglass. Later
on, those holes you see, will be filled with a Epoxy resin mixed with
silca dust for that peanut butter like consistency .
