I've thought about a rug off and on for the bell boy. Gluing it down seems like a bad idea though for reasons mentioned above.

What I thought might work well, though, is to use snaps. We all know how to work fiberglass. We are all handy with tools to some extent. My thinking is that small 1 inch squares of wood can be glassed to the deck in the corners, etc. Or, directly into the floor with proper sealant. Then snaps screwed into the wood, and riveted into the carpet. With this system, the carpet can be placed on the vessel and secured so that it doesn't slide all over the place. When it is time to clean, you just undo the snaps, hose it off and let it dry. Snap it back into place when you are done and off you go!

I was thinking of a snap system for carpet as well. Has anybody gone down that road?

I had one in the Dorsett Farallon cockpit but never unsnap it as i just vacuum it in place. Since then i just screw down three snaps screws across the top of the rug by the cabin door bulkhead and snap a color coded cap over the top to give it the look like it has been snaped down. I never take the rug out anyway but if it did get wet i would just roll it up to the back of the seats or just put a few small wood 2x4's under the rug to air it out, but i have never needed to do that.
