Saturday May 19th, two of my kids (Zoanna and Jubal) came up to visit. We started off with an overdue christening ceremony of the Saratogan. Those champagne bottles are pretty tough....took five or was it six swings (last two baseball bat two handed style) to break the bottle over the bow eye. I have the event in video which i'll try to figure out how to post here.
After the christening ceremony we followed the whale watch fleet out into Juan De Fuca, but there were no whales. Ran up the coast of San Juan, stopping briefly at San Juan County Park.
Finally made it up to Roche Harbor where we stopped and were invited aboard The Destiny for happy hour. I worked on Destiny for two years. She spent three years on the hard in Port Townsend getting a lot of wood replaced. She is beautiful! 56 feet on deck, 80 feet overall. Built for Hollywood screenwriter/ director/producer Preston Sturges and later owner by Howard Hughes for about ten years.
Made it back to Friday Harbor in time for dinner at the Cask and Schooner. Really fun day on water.....got sun burned!
