Bruce came up and helped me with the transom work on my Skagit Offshore 20. He also brought a Skagit windshield from Chuck C. I have become a hoarder of Skagit Winsheild frames as I now have three and one has glass
I have been slowly working on the transom repair for a long while since I have 2 other Skagits that run. I am planning on experimenting with some pourable transom on my repair. The club has gone through many changes since I first joined. The Skagit 50th anniversary was my first event. Soon after we helped Skotty (who is no longer active in the club) move from Seattle to Arlington. I was so impressed with all the help club members gave to one another. So thanks again to Chuck and Bruce for the help and helping me remember the good old days. Clint

As for the transom.... If you are replacing, I'd just rebuild it with new wood. Seems like a pour in transom is a short term fix in lieu of complete replacement. You aren't in a hurry with other running boats so why bandaid?

I hope my repair is more than an band aid. I am hoping it is an improvement. I want to experiment and try something different. The center of the transom is the bad part where nails were driven into the transom. All the bad wood will be removed. Stop rot will be applied to the good wood. Two layers of 3/8 marine plywood will be fiberglassed to the inside of the whole transom and fiberglassed to the hull. This will form a cavity to pour in pourable transom. Ar Jay is one of the materials I am considering. This should make a 2 and 1/2 inch transom that very strong and long lasting. This at least my theory. Clint
