  • TYC event recap from Sunday

The Tacoma Yacht Club open house event was yesterday and turned out to be a great event at a super location. Jim Guisey (sp?) is a TYC member and owner of several very nice boats (including a Chris Craft Cobra) organized the event. We ended up with 16 boats on trailers ranging from 1928 to 1960 and 2-3 runabouts in the water. There was a car show with 20 or so cars as well as several docks with larger cruisers and sailboats that were open for tours. The TYC sits on the breakwater at Point Defiance and has outstanding views of the South Sound. The weather was amazing and the buffet in the Yacht Club was enough to feed 3 small armies. One of the highlights of the show was ACBS member Curt Erickson with his runabout Miss Sydney. It is a Hacker style gentlemen’s racer powered with a big block 454. Marty knows quite a bit about this boat as he was involved with the hull design and subsequent construction in Australia. Curt gave rides in this rocket ALL day long. The sound and sight on this boat at full power along the shore line all day was pure heaven!
